Dr. May Kim

Dr. May Kim is LuminCARE’s Medical Director and a Board-certified family medicine physician. Her expertise includes the full scope of urgent and primary care, including pediatrics, inpatient and outpatient treatment. Fluent in both English and Korean, she is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Medical Society and the Age Management Medicine Group.


“I was highly motivated when I decided to pursue a career in medicine. It is a rewarding to influence someone’s life and also an endless learning process. When I am with a patient, I always follow three basic rules of treatment – Safety, quality care and patient satisfaction. I believe in non-judgmental communication and strive to listen, listen and listen some more before exploring possible diagnoses.”

Dr. Kim completed her undergraduate studies at Touro College in New York City before graduating from medical school at Ross University. She completed her residency in family medicine at Quincy Family Medicine in Quincy, Illinois. While there, Dr. Kim was named the Chairperson of the Chronic Pain Management Committee. Her extensive experience has led to caring for a diverse range of patients, including active roles in an outpatient addiction resources center, outpatient urgent care clinic, and group home for mentally handicapped patients.

Some of Dr. Kim’s areas of particular interest include preventative medicine, healthy aging, hormonal disorders, diabetes care, chronic disease management, medical weight management and mental disorders. She enjoys providing quality care for a variety of pediatric and adult patients, including infants, women and geriatric patients. Dr. Kim brings a strong sense of patient advocacy and a wealth of experience to LuminCARE.

About Dr. Kim:

  • Completed undergraduate studies at Touro College in New York City

  • In her free time, Dr. Kim enjoys reading Korean books, watching Korean movies, writing, photography and spending time with her family
